We went to the Gundog show today with my friend Lucy, and my mum was really pleased with me. We had 5 runs and we went clear in them ALL!

We managed a 1st in the 1-4 agility and 2nd in the 1-4 jumping, we did not get a placing in the 1-6 steeplechase but we were fast so just outside the placings.

North West Interclub

Mum and I went to the Interclub match today and we did really well, we managed an 11th in the Grade 3 Helter Skelter and a 9th in the Interclub Jumping, we would have do a really nice clear in the Interclub agility but silly mum forgot the course and sent me over the wrong jump.

Off to another show tomoz, lets see if we can do as good there!

Grade 4!

Not been able to post on here for some time as we have been so busy, so here is a quick up date and a big one at that!

We went to our first outdoor agility show of the season, Dog Vegas! it was Flukes first time camping and I really enjoyed having the company, it was great fun playing chase in the garden.

But thats not all, we started the show with some terrible terrier runs, out of 7 runs I only went clear once (and unfortunately we were just outside the placings), it was mainly my daft mum's fault, but I was scared that the contacts would burn my feet so I kept jumping them he he he!

Well I knew mum had almost given up when it came to the last day that we were competing so I decided to chance touching the contacts and hey, they don't burn you! we got a really good clear in the first agility run of the day and got a lovely blue rosette for coming 2nd, that poodle was much faster than us!

We then went on to our second class of the day, which was jumping and just to keep mum on her toes I jumped a jump I was not suppose to do and we got E'd!

We waited all day for our final run, which was agility again.... now I knew those contacts did not burn I got them all perfect again! and did the course in a really good time, and we won the class, getting a really nice red rosette and trophy.

Not only that but this now means we have to move into grade 4, that should be fun!

Mum was so pleased with me that she gave me two sausages when we got back to the campervan, Mmmmmm!!!

Fun in the Snow

Well we were suppose to be going to NAWS today but the snow put a stop to that! Mum thought it was not safe to drive 55 mile in this weather, but on the up side Fluke (my new best buddy) and I had a good play in the snow in our back garden.

We chased some snowball that mum made, dug some holes and had a nice long game of chase each other, it was so much fun, but Brrrrrrr! was it cold!

Now we are all cosy and warm in the house, time for a good sleep on the sofa.

Well Fluke arrived home last Friday and I like her most of the time, but I do have to keep letting her know when I have had enough, she just never stops!

Mum has been off work for a few days, making sure she settles in and I get on with her fine.

NAWS

Mum and I went to NAWS on Sunday and I really did work hard, we managed to get a 1st in the Agility (3/4 combined) and 2nd in the Jumping (3/4 combined).

We are now sitting in 2nd place for the championship, with only 1 point off the leader. If I keep up the good work we could win and take home a lovely championship rosette..... but we'll see only time will tell.

Wyre show on Saturday.... bring it on!

Rats!!!!

Mum is really proud of me, I actually found and killed a RAT at the yard where mum keeps her horse.

Thats one less of the little boogers eating the horse food.

Everyone at the yard were really pleased and I got lots of fuss, the only bad thing about it was I was not aloud to eat it!

Next time I will get some more.

Wilmslow DTC Agility Show

Mum and I went to Wilmslow Agility Show today and it was our first at Grade 3, the courses were very testing, but we definately held our own against the other grade 3's.

It was a shame the seesaw in our first agility run was a bit slow in tilting, it un-nerved me a bit and I jump off before it hit the ground so we were faulted for that, but mum was still really pleased with the run as I di try my hardest.

Then we got E'd in the other agility run, that jump was just too tempting.

Then we did a really hard jumping course, with three pull throughs, its lucky I learnt how to do them recently as we managed a respectable clear which got us a lovely 4th place rosette.

I really enjoyed my first grade 3 show and so did my mum, next one Wyre on 5th Dec.

Obedience

Mum and I went to obedience tonight, we don't want to compete in it or anything so we don't take it too seriously. It more a tool to get me use to other dogs as I am frightened of them when they look at me or act silly.

Mum thinks I am doing really well as I am going so close to other dogs and not shouting at them any more, but we still have a long way to go.

We even managed a really nice heel off lead, and a recall to heel which I have never done before so mum was really please.

More Training

Again, I did mum proud! I worked really hard and tried my hardest to concentrate but a couple of times that see saw was too tempting, how did I know that we weren't suppose to be doing it in that order, but we did get it right in the end.

I am still doing the weaves well, although I thought I would keep mum on her toes and popped out of them once ha ha ha!

We had a really fun session, now its time for some relaxation on the sofa till we have to go an sort horse out.

New Family Member... Fluke

I am getting a little sister, she will be arriving home on 4th December (3 weeks time), she has come form the same breeder as I did and is technically my neice.

Mum is really excited, as to what I will think, we will have to see. Hopefully she will like me and I will like her, and we can then become the best of buddies.

Sorry Fluke but if you start an agility career, due to how well I have done you have to start at Grade 3.

Let hope we can have a great agility career together, but if not you can come along to the shows and support me!

I was on my best behaviour last night at training I did everything right for my mum and she was really pleased with me.

I can now do the weaves without mum having to keep saying weave to me, which is good as I was beginning to worry she would run out of breath one day a pass out!

Then I had a light bulb moment, I realised what pull throughs are, you have to go between the jumps WOW! I never knew that, I must remember it when we are in a competition then I might get more liver at the end of all the fun.

So, yeah mum was really pleased and gave me all the left over treats when we had finished so she must have been happy.... training again on Sunday, can't wait!

We're going to meet Dawn Weaver

Well my mum has booked us on an agility training day, with the one and only Dawn Weaver!!

So on 20th Jan we will be off to Lancaster for a 2 hour training session, with lunch Mmmm!! I bet I don't get any but hopefully mum will be bringing plenty of tasty treats for me to have during training.

Oh! and my agility buddy Lucy is coming with us too, so it should be a really good day out.

A bit of background

Boo is a 4 year old Border x Lakeland Terrier, she turned our world upside down in January 2006, as a very cute and tiny brown bundle of fun!!

As she grew we tried our hands at a lot of doggy activities, including companion shows, terrier shows, obedience, even doggy dancing but nothing seemed to fit..... until we discovered AGILITY!!!

Boo was 12 month old when we started agility, and talk about 'duck to water', nothing phased her and she learnt very quicky.... except the weaves (we had a mental block on them for ages LOL).

It wasn't until October 2008 that we actually entered a competition (only because we were never actually going to compete... agility was play time!), we had a fantastic time, we were E'd in agility twice, but then managed to pull of two lovely clears in Jumping... and took 3rd place!

That was it, we were addicted! offically measuring into small in February 2009 we started our agility career, and have never looked back.

Boo now possesses many rosettes and trophies (plus a nice list of eliminations), we won out of Grade one in August 2009 then out of Grade 2 in October 2009.

We train at Newton Heath DTC, and this blog will be the 'Up's' and 'Down's' of running a terrier in agility.... who knows where we may end up!
